Batten down the hatches...... and sew!

Strange times but an opportunity to learn a new skill, finish some projects or practice an old skill.

Quilting is a very time consuming project with lots of repetition of skill, a need for accuracy and patience. Sounds like the perfect project for a sustained, forced period of house arrest!

This is one of my 1st quilts. Made with dresden plates and how I really learnt to free motion quilt.

Kay has also developed a love of the dresden and is now making her granddaughter this lovely bright quilt. The pink and purple one has pride of place on her bed. Framing a simple strip quilt really makes the colours pop out and this topper is now being professionally quilted.

If you don't fancy making such a big project, or don't have the fabric what about a Cathedral window pin cushion, a patchwork PJ case or a cushion cover? Patchwork projects can be large or small.

The PJ case was done with a simple 9 square re cut and stitched.....

If your beds all have quilts what about the grey and yellow ones I have made for my motorhome or a free motion quilt reminding me of my trip to Vietnam.

Quilts come in all shapes and sizes and can really fill up an empty day....... or hour....... or week....... or year!

I've saved the most time consuming quilt, with appliqué animals and grey framing till last but I am sure you will all agree that Debbie has really done her granddaughter proud with this stunning quilt......

Whatever you get up to in the next few weeks, stay safe and well and keep stitching to stay sane!

Best wishes

Naomi
