Despite all the efforts of an unexpected spell of rain our summer gathering at the Learn It Stitch It HQ went ahead as planned...our Stichers got together to compare projects, material and technique. A lot of people came wearing garments they'd made and everyone brought plenty of food and drink with them for everyone to share.
Tim came sporting this very dapper hat he made and completed recently, a waistcoat he wore for Waistcoat Wednesday and a shirt from a previous project. I'll look forward to sharing Tim's latest shirt making project with you next month...he's chosen a wonderful fabric.
Here is Gabe and Kay enjoying some of the abundant food that was brought along...under the watchful eye of my Dad John who made sure everything was kept clean and tidy. Kay bless her...despite having a broken foot still came along, so glad she could make it.
This dress was made by Cathy and was the star of the show at our gathering...a beautifully embroidered garment.
Sue (in the green trousers) here showing Bev and Jane some images of her work. Bev is wearing a white top that she made recently.
Here's Clair and Jane swapping notes...
We had a 'bring & share' set up for fabrics, patterns and books that people no longer needed and were happy to offer to others. Cathy for example found a lovely piece of material to make a Stole to go with her dress.
So its holiday time coming up for me...I'll be heading up to Edinburgh to enjoy the Fringe Festival. I've got some bookings made including some very adapt performances...a play called Dressed...all about a woman that makes her own clothes and something called a Knitting Caberet! I'll be sporting my newly made fleeces...weather dependent clearly.
I'll catch up with you all in September...enjoy the rest of your summer :)
