Time for my summer hols and in my packing I was surprised to see how many items have some of my stitching in them. Garments, luggage and alterations have all been packed. Just shows what a useful skill sewing is!
My very useful document wallet was made with a front pocket to hold pen and passport and EHIC card (may not use that for much longer!). Inside there is a hidden zip pocket for currency and it has all been piped and finished using 3 fat quarters.
I seem to have packed a good range of home made tops this time. I have a lovely spotty vest made from £2/mtr fabric from Birmingham Rag Market. A pink chambre cotton top printed with scotty dogs and a simple cotton top from the same pattern.
The alterations came in with a small modesty panel being added to a £10 sale jumpsuit. As a shorter than average person it was a little lower than I care to flash! The pink dress from TKMaxx was just a shortening job. I don't mind buying clothes that I can't make for the cost or I just love the fabric of. Otherwise I make them.
My holiday this year is a cycling trip from Prague to Budapest and I have added a couple of bits to what was a very cheap pannier so that I can carry it on my shoulder not in my hand. The shoulder strap with adjustable length clips on and off so that it doesn't tangle in the wheels. I have also added a clip on the front to attach my helmet to when I'm not wearing it.
What ever you plans are this summer I hope they include sewing!
See you in September folks
