I thought I'd give you all an update on the latest from the Learn It Stitch It Studio...there has been much going on, but here's a little snapshot...:)
For the 100 year commemoration of the end of World War One, the people of Anstey Village in Leicestershire made a bunting flag for each of the fallen soldiers named on the Anstey War Memorial. I made this one for Edward Dickenson who died on the 27th of June 1916 aged just 24, whilst serving for the Coldstream Guards.
Check out the latest creation from Ian, now a Boys Night stalwart on Wednesday evenings. This is the second shirt he's made...this one from a lovely brushed cotton material purchased from Material Magic in Leicester (near the Marketplace).
Bev and Miriam have been making drawstring bags...Miriam for her Son which has an appliqued 'H' on the front of it...and Bev for one of her grandchildren, all made from upcycled strips of fabric to make a Postman Pat themed bag. Lovely work :)
One of our newer students, Janet, has made this wonderful dress out of a printed Japanese linen. Janet has left the hem with the selvedge on and fussy cut the sleeves to match the shoulders. Love it :)
Quite a few Learn It Stitch It Makers have been working in patchwork...
Cathie has made this utterly beautiful baby quilt for a friends newborn Son and used the Studio embroidery machine to add the date of birth too. Lucky Boy :)
Gabe had his first patchwork outing and made this Christmas snuggle blanket for his two children. Again the Studio embroidery machine came to the rescue to add some additional Christmas images and words to it. A big thank you from Gabe to Tim for letting him have the remainder of his Duffel coat material for the backing :)
Jackie has been making some patchwork cushions.
Kay has started work on her second Dresden quilt.
And another newbie to the Learn It Stitch It Studio, Ginny, is making a quilt for her Daughter using a pattern from the book Three Fabric Quilts (pictured).
Other news...the Learn It Stitch it Studio is having a makeover together with the Studio space itself expanding in size. I hope to have this completed by late January 2019...as you can see Spencer is tired just thinking about the work involved :)
That's all for this post...I'll catch up with you all very soon
